Boxless is a consultancy that provides cloud solutions and services to organisations in Melbourne and Victoria.
It was founded by me, Andrew Davis.
I have been deploying cloud-based systems since 2004. (Before that I was a lawyer, but don’t hold that against me.)
Why cloud-based solutions?
After a decade relying on them for daily business operations, I have direct experience with cloud-based systems and their advantages for business productivity.
- Staff members love that the systems are so easy to use, and that they can be accessed from anywhere, anytime.
- Management loves the low cost of deployment and maintenance.
- Everyone loves the automatic backups and disaster recovery. (Except maybe for old-school IT support people.)
Why the name Boxless?
People often interpret it as a reference to thinking outside the box. That’s partly true. But there’s also another reason. In IT, a ‘box’ is a colloquial term for a computer server. And my vision is to rid organisations of all their costly, inefficient boxes.
My story so far
My interest in cloud-based solutions started in 2004 when I first implemented Salesforce.com for a former employer. Before that we had been trying to manage customer relationships using Excel. The difference was like night-and-day. (That was back in the days before the term “cloud computing” had even been coined.)
I learned about the benefits of Google Apps in 2007, and convinced the company to move its email, calendaring and intranet to Google Apps. No more spam. No manual back-ups, or data corruption. And again, a stark improvement in productivity.
Then in 2010, after years of working with cloud-based business applications, I decided it was time to share my passion and expertise with other organisations. So, I set up Boxless. Since then, the “Cloud” has gone mainstream and I’ve been fortunate enough to help Melbourne businesses make the move.
